The Black Lodge had left its psychological marks on Dale Cooper. Sleepless nights, cold shivers, skepticism—Cooper’s life had turned frightening. His reflection in the bathroom mirror reminded him of his cruel doppelganger, he expects his coffee to turn to brown sludge, and the nightmares have persisted long past the horrors of the Lodge. But Harry made a promise to himself and Cooper the moment Cooper exited the Lodge: he promised to protect Cooper, no matter what.
