Fics like Final Exam In Public Speaking

The Gn’ael’ya convoy had chased the Khanre Steadfast for 47 galactic cycles when they finally responded to the desperate hails their quarry had been sending on a four-hour repeat. A wall of silence since their initial “prepare to be destroyed”, but they were ready to negotiate, the message said. A party was welcome to come to the flagship and discuss “terms that would be pleasant to both parties”. It didn’t take long for the relieved discussions of how their pursuers were finally ready to talk circulated the Steadfast’s halls, and that relief was as-swiftly followed by hushed explanations of how exactly the Gn’ael’ya negotiated. And then there was an expectant, waiting silence, crew members glancing at each other and wondering. Or: in which an ability to eat hot peppers and toss back shots comes in really handy.
