Fics like I Think I Need A New Heart (Just for You)

It was the custom in those days for a captain in Her Majesty's Service to be wed. After all, it was found that a captain in the happy state of regularly satisfied matrimony was far more likely to be a capable sort of fellow, less distracted by a wandering eye, more diligent in his duties, slow to engage in harsh punishments that might encourage the ire of the men. And so it was that every six months or so, the heads of the admiralty would get together, review their roles of captains who had not as yet found their better halves, and deign to remedy the situation Francis won't be allowed another posting until he is wed. Enter one admiralty filled with matchmaking busybodies, the wingman to end all wingmen, misunderstandings at a ball, and James Fitzjames.
