“Who is he?” Jeongguk asks. “Who’s who?” “Don’t play dumb,” Jeongguk mumbles between them, his words low enough for only him to hear. “Your date. Who is he?” “You’re really going to keep doing this?” “And you’re not?” The air vibrates between them, charged with the unspoken. “We’ve been at it for years, Jeongguk-ah. Why stop now?” It’s as much an acknowledgment as any. Taehyung has never spoken it out loud before, and it catches Jeongguk off guard. It’s just a moment, a brief glimmer in his eyes, but Taehyung can’t let it slip. He has to capitalize on it. “Though I will admit I enjoy seeing you jealous.” Taehyung can’t resist the smirk. “You’re awfully possessive of someone who isn’t yours.” OR: As sole heirs to their family fortunes, Jeon Jeongguk and Kim Taehyung have been rivals for as long as they can remember. In a game perfected over years, they’ve managed to dance around each other, careful to not disrupt the landscape of Seoul’s most powerful families. Enamored by the dance they can’t seem to stop, they keep chasing the thrill of the forbidden, until their games come to a halt one night—throwing life as they’ve always known it off its axis forever.
