“The mission involves making contact with the target – Naruto Uzumaki, and persuading him to affiliate with Konoha in the capacity of a shinobi and accept refuge within our village. If this doesn’t work out, you will have to tail Naruto or convince him to let you travel alongside him, to protect him, no matter what. Up until the time that Naruto is safely brought to Konoha or you encounter the Akatsuki and defeat them, you will have to stick by Naruto’s side.” At the age of twelve, Naruto Uzumaki leaves Konoha, the night before graduation. Years later, the threat of the Akatsuki becomes all too real and keeping Naruto safe becomes Konoha’s topmost priority. A team of seven is sent after Naruto, to protect him no matter what. The thing is: unaffiliated, jaded and thoroughly independent Naruto isn’t the type to appreciate a bunch of ninjas barging into his life one day, demanding that he let them protect him. He’s been fine on his own so far so why are they so adamant to stick by his side? And why is he being chased by a bunch of weirdos wearing freaky capes?
