Fics like over the edge

He inches slightly as he braces himself on the edge of the roof. He’s ready. More ready, maybe, than he’s ever been. The soles of his shoes are pressed flush to the wall of the building and his hands grip the course edge of the building. He looks down at the city commotion, then up at the Big Dipper constellation (the first one he could ever identify as a kid). He feels his heart finally slow down to an acceptably calm rhythm. He closes his eyes. He doesn’t feel anything anymore. He doesn’t hear anything. He doesn’t hear the door to the roof open, nor does he hear the blood-curdling scream behind him. Or; Buck has never felt so alone in his entire life. The noise and the hatred and pain is loud and he wants it to stop. So he decides to make it.
