Fics like Trails of Fire and Lightning

Cid had thought the distinction between faith and trust clear and cemented in his mind, but he’d learned of the fragility of such man-made distinctions after meeting the lad. Some people just possessed a natural talent for putting to the test old certitudes once deemed as unshakeable as the sky. Now, as to where hope came into play in this mysterious yet fascinating equation, well… There lay another can of worms that Clive Rosfield hadn’t minded kicking open. And that was without counting the cigars he kept lighting for Cid… [AU in which Cid doesn’t die at Drake’s Head, Titan doesn't attack the Hideaway in the meantime, tension climbs, two Dominants (re)learn to accept the gifts they think they don’t deserve... And Cid allows himself to be saved too]
