Fics like like lambs to a slaughter, this dance never ends

"There was a yelp and whining behind him, and Tintin had almost forgot that Snowy had been shoved into the back of the car with him. He wanted to stop, for the sake of his dog. He knew they wanted him dead and ransacked Marlinspike because of cracking down on their ring of robbers and having them thrown in prison – God only knows how they got out – but when his dog was involved, that was a line completely crossed over. He couldn’t budge himself down the stairs towards the dock, but naturally, he felt the barrel of a gun on the back of his injured head and heard a gruff laugh from behind him. “I’d suggest you keep walking, you pesky ginger devil,” he spoke, clicking the gun to show he was completely serious, “you and your little mutt will be fine. I’m sure a familiar face at the end of the dock would prefer it…”"
