Fics like A Dragon on the Doorstep

It was a very simple rule, and one that ought to be easy to live by: don't interfere with dragons. Sigrid Eiriksdatter had spent a great deal of her life trying to explain to people why they shouldn't, and then cleaning up the messy aftermath when they did. Dragons were very large, very dangerous predators. They might start small, but they didn’t stay that way. The occasional fools who thought they could be kept captive inevitably became cautionary tales, spoken of bitterly by their neighbours. What’s worse, the dragon involved had to be put down, because there was nothing else to be done once a dragon learned humans can be prey. Don't interfere with dragons. It was a simple rule. If only her co-workers had followed it.
