“Oh my God, May, what’s wrong? Are you hurt? Where are you?” She takes a breath. “I’m – I’m – I don’t know where I am I – I left the party – ” she says, her head still spinning too much to form a coherent sentence while she’s still crying. “Did someone hurt you?” he asks, and he sounds afraid. For her. Not even angry. She hadn’t realised he’d be that worried about her. “No – no – ” she gets out. “I’m fucked – I’m so fucked up, Buck, I fucked everything up – I got high and I’m freaking out – I fucked everything up – ” she tries, before dissolving into tears again. *** At a party with some friends, May leans in to the college experience a little too hard. Someone who might unexpectedly just the right person to help her out....
