Fics like Dear Jack

“I promise you, Jack, I’ll make sure you grow up knowing that your father is out there protecting us from the stars. One day, you’ll know… you’ll know of the sacrifices he has made.” This child was physical, tangible proof of the fact that she loved Jean-Luc and Jean-Luc loved her. A living, breathing attestment. The most powerful kind of proof there could ever be. Finally, she turned her eyes away from the baby and looked out at the constellations that littered the black sky. She had her son, their son in her arms, and it was supposed to be a day of beauty and joy. A new life. But she was alone, and her old life felt as if it were crying for her. Yearning for her just as much as she had for it. “And the ones I made too,” The night their son is born, Beverly tells Jack all about who his father is... and why he isn't there.
