Fics like better than that

He imagines the situation like it might play out in a manga; maybe there’s an outcome involving Sasaki surprising him by coming to walk him home, only to see the three of them down the street. Sasaki’s eyes would only be on Miyano, would see him tense in the arms of another man—he doesn’t need to add any fictional tropes to know that Sasaki would act before thinking. He’d probably storm over before he realizes what he’s doing, pulling Miyano away and placing himself defensively in front of him— The outcome that Miyano imagines is not what happens. What happens is better than that. While at a bar with his classmates, Miyano accidentally helps one with a relationship issue. Sasaki intervenes. Miyano keeps an old promise.
