Fics like Holding On And Letting Go

“Hello, I am Henry, Alex’s boyfriend. I don’t think we’ve met before,” he says, reaching out a hand to Miguel. Alex can see the annoyance that appears on his ex’s face immediately at the words and he allows himself to smile a little. Miguel hesitates before shaking Henry’s hand. “Miguel. I am sure Alex has told you about me,” he says smugly, letting go off the other's hand. At that, Alex finally braces himself and glances over at Henry, who looks thoughtful for a moment. “You know, I don’t recall that he has,” he speaks, a bit of amusement in his voice. “Alex and I have plenty of other subjects to entertain ourselves with,” he says, and then he stretches his arm and puts a hand on Alex’s lower back, a gesture that isn’t too intrusive, but that seems to sell it because Alex can see Miguel’s face turning red. OR Alex hates his ex, Miguel, because he is a manipulative asshole, so he asks a stranger to pretend to be his boyfriend. It works out better than he thinks.
