Fics like jigsaw falling into place

Cody gets to know his General, his daemon is obsessed with romantic holos, and he doesn't know how to stop remembering things he'd rather forget. His General has a bird daemon he calls Peazan who hops about the command centre on the Negotiator, flashing her pink and jade neck feathers. Cody knows, though he’s now used to it, that the rest of the galaxy doesn’t allow the touching of others’ daemons, but sometimes it’s very hard not to want to hold out a finger and scratch behind her skull. Kittila stays curled up below his breastplate when they’re outside his quarters, carefully hidden from the rest of the world.
