Fics like you and me, forevermore

Shadow's hand brushes against something else. Something long, soft, and malleable all at the same time. Reaching further he takes it out, peering at the brown color of it. An owl feather he notes, brushing a finger down the striped pattern. At the bottom is a sunflower, delicately intertwined into the stalk of the feather. “This?” Shadow asks softly, twisting the feather at the sky, reveling in the beauty of it. A playful smirk picks at his lips as he turns to Sonic. “Didn’t take you as the type of person to collect bird feathers.” But Sonic's eyes aren’t playful. Instead, there's a low feeling of dread, guilt, and sadness filling them. His ears are low to his head, his body curled into himself and it seems all he can muster is a small, “Oh.”
