Fics like From the Ashes

“Ultima is gone, and when the world reverses, he will not return. But other enemies will, are you certain you would swear your sword to our cause?” Clive’s never much been certain about anything, naught besides the title of Shield he still carries. Even still, Cid’s legacy wouldn’t be complete until everyone was free, Eikon’s included. So, on the brink of death, dazed and confused, Clive holds up his still-flesh hand to the sky and makes his oath. “As you have sworn your power to mine.” - Dying on the sand, Clive Rosfield is offered a choice. He decides to take it.
