Fics like Mark of the Beast

The Maintenance Tribe of Subdeck One-Three dispatches Isaria to locate and petition Lord Thybaro for his help after their barracks come under attack by the Hungry Ones. As the lumens darken in anticipation of night shift , Isaria finds herself at the immense portal leading into Lord Thybaro's domain. The Hungry Ones draw closer and their howls fill the corridors, yet she hesitates despite the imminent threat and the burden of her duty. The story was first published on Cold Open Stories (https://40k.coldopenstories.com/mark-of-the-beast/) as part of a short fiction anthology. Disclaimer: the story was inspired by gothic horrors and mostly notably, the figure of Dracula. Stories about Dracula often depict him as a seducer and as such, I tried to keep this trope relevant in the setting. I do hope this will explain why the characters act the way they do.
