Fics like Coppertone

Ooe, 8:14 PM: Even if we could figure out the money to get us there, Chihaya-chan, we don’t have anywhere to stay. We couldn’t afford the flight AND a hotel. Chihaya, 8:14 PM: That’s not true!!! Taichi’s family has a beach house out there, right?! We could just stay there!!! As the messages came in, Taichi sighed in a longsuffering way. It was true that the Mashima family had a vacation home on Sanrigahama beach in Masuda. And yes, the Hitomaro no Sato National Karuta Tournament would be one of their last opportunities to play in a tournament before the next year. Taichi’s phone buzzed in his hand to signal an incoming call from Chihaya. And as her face and her name flashed across his screen, Taichi knew that he wasn’t going to be able to say no to her. But still, he had to try. - The Mizusawa Karuta Club go on a beach vacation! Written for #TaichihayaWeek2023 :)
