Fics like 'cause you were never mine

Vanity burns: she takes sulphur match to love and ignites it before your eyes. There were far too many things I desired; I thirsted for much beyond my paltry grasp, and while it is true that I had taken him between my fingers and exposed all vulnerability under the warm august sun: that sun soon caused sparks to kindle and crack, and he melted to shadow while my fingers broke under the pressure of holding on. The arrow of Eros missed; or perhaps it was never fired at all: but something was certainly off about the way it struck me. All I remember was that, one day, his words no longer reached me, and I felt sharp sting in my heart and a sinking feeling that something had changed. ~~~~ A little while ago in my English Literature class, we were given the task to write a piece of creative fiction inspired by Jane Eyre and Charlotte Brontë's writing style, so I decided to write a this piece; the story of the folklore love triangle written in the style of Jane Eyre. I hope you enjoy!! I may change the title later, I thought of something quickly so I could post it!!
