Fics like The Gods Give Just As The Gods Take Away

The trumpets play a jubilant tune, and everyone’s gaze is fixed on Otto. His moment of triumph. As Otto leads his daughter to the altar set at the end of the vaulted chamber of the Royal Sept, the bright and glorious future stretches before his eyes, glowing in the sunlight streaming through the stained windows of the Sept. His hard work, his careful planning, his cunning and wit finally bore fruit. Alicent is to become the Queen, and soon, she will fill the royal nursery with boys, the heirs to the Targaryen dynasty. A King with Hightower blood – Otto’s blood – will one day sit on the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms. Except, the gods have different plans.
