Fics like put me down, put me out of misery (i'm fatally yours)

Evan laughed; the world fell. Crashing and burning around the two of them, across the room at a party with a drink in hand, grinning at something someone said. Messy hair from a romp in the car, a collar pulled up too high on one side, a nasty bite that probably needed disinfectant hidden, and ash falling from a lit cigarette lost between seats as Evan sighed and begged for more. At a club with the music too loud, sliding a drink across the bar. Barty’s head would always turn, a perpetual swivel. Round and round until one day it fell off, to the sight of the one he loved sitting on their couch, slumped over an arm, thumbing through the movie channels.
