(Updated version of original fic “Only Want You”) Love Island, the UK’s biggest dating show, is back for Summer 2021. Its scouted and applicant contestants range from those trying to find love, quickly boost their Instagram following, or receive a free Spanish vacation. Elizabeth Torrance falls into the first category – willing to try the Love Island experiment for a chance at starting over after failed love. Originally cast to fulfill the girl-next-door archetype, as she discovers that the villa isn’t always kind to those looking for a fresh start how Lizzie plays the game surprises both the producers and herself. Lucas Koh falls into the last category – happy to be anywhere but the medical wards he’s worked on for the last year and in a place where the shadow of his parents can’t find him. He might be the ideal bombshell but when you’ve never had the example of the perfect relationship it’s hard to trust that the right girl might want you for the long haul. This summer, the constants will find out that the journey to love is never smooth, while some may be salvageable not all relationships can withstand the challenge of temptation, and the easiest heart to break is the one that means the most.
