Fics like Face Into the Rain

“I just thought…maybe if that offer of a coffee is still going.” Joan could do the sensible thing and gently but firmly turn him down. But she’s wanted Morse for quite a while now, and she’s sick of denying herself. Besides, he looks so hopeful that she can’t quite bear to break his heart. She invites him up. Canon divergence starting from the final scene of Season 5 and covering S6, in a slightly alternate universe where Morse and Joan's relationship is closer, but that doesn't mean anything is easier.
