Fics like When I see you again

Shanks is a pirate not because he wants to be a notorious criminal, but because he wants to be free. He is pirate so he can live without regrets and do whatever he wants - and so, there is no way he is missing out fifteen or so years of Luffy's life when he could sail wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Or in which Shanks visits Luffy through the years because the promise wasn't about keeping away.
