Fics like feed the mouth that bites

"I know you need to dream, Tuomas. You have to believe that everything has a greater meaning, that there is a poetic reason for everything. But this is life, and it just is what it is, plain and simple. Not a story, not a song.” She takes a deep breath. “Just life." “What is this to you, then?” he asks her finally. She meets his gaze – clear blue eyes that still appear so dark, at times. There’s a storm raging in them, waves crashing, consuming. She’s not afraid of this, she will not follow him into the abyss. “Two people trying to make each other feel good once in a while. What else could this be?” _____________ Set in a Nordic society in unspecified olden times, pre-electricity and all that jazz
