Fics like Words in the wind

"Your beard obstructs too much of your mouth" is not polite to tell a dwarf, nor does Legolas wish to explain why he needs to see Gimli's mouth to know what he says. Gimli, meanwhile, spends the first part of their journey together ignoring the elf out of indignation. This all changes with an explanation and a belated answer to what Gimli had attempted to ask before they set out. From there on, they are friends. Or, in the words of Aragorn: "I would have an easier time separating Gimli from his axe than I would separating him from you. And you know that he does not relinquish his axe so easily."
