Fics like All the Signs Say that We’re in Love

Harry and Louis were believed to be in love. It was a long-term conspiracy, promoted by “the Larry Organisation,” as that asshole had put it this one time, just a thing people love to buy into, a chain of casualties Louis had been trying to get out of for years. Being closeted in the music industry was difficult, that’s one way of putting it, and queercoding without your beloved fans thinking you were in a long-term relationship with your also closeted best-friend (and former bandmate) was proving to be impossible. ---------- Something crazy happens—it always does—and we say "the universe hates them." But what would happen if it truly did? What would happen if the universe truly hated them? In a world where Harry and Louis never got together, they live their lives as best friends closeted by the music industry trying not to feed old rumours. Unfortunately, one way or another, their individual queercoding is always misunderstood and "coincidences" never end. They obviously don't have any feelings for each other, obviously! Alas! If everything was that simple! There was a time where everyone thought they did, there was a time where things were different. Perhaps nothing is what it seems.
