Fics like Distant Cousins

Instead of dying on No Man's Land, or running away from reporters and Earth-brought soldiers for the rest of their lives, Vash and Knives wake up in the wastes outside Midgar on Gaia. And meet someone saying their "Mother" wants to see them. Rather than let Jenova do what she wants, Vash would rather save lives, and while Knives isn't keen on helping him, he doesn't like the idea of humans being used by a "higher being" as her "children." And Cloud? He just wants to kill the thing that's planning to kill his planet and played around with his mind for a while, and save his friend if he has the chance. They all have something to learn from each other as they approach their end goals. Whether those goals come from the same place by the end of the tale is another matter entirely.
