Fics like To Have and To Hold

“Should we get married?” Jon asks as Martin strides through the living room. He’s been sitting on the couch for most of the afternoon with his nose buried in his laptop, filling the house with furious tapping as Martin busies himself with repairing the kitchen sink. Or rather, trying to repair the kitchen sink. It’s not that complicated, he tells himself after his fifth (or sixth, or seventh) youtube video — just twist this and loosen...that, and maybe...hammer this...? The point is, he’s been doing a lot of trial and error. And yes, water is still coming out of one of the knobs, but at least it seems like less water than before...? The point is, when Jon says this apropos of absolutely nothing, Martin nearly spills the sports drink he’s chugging all down the front of his shirt, and while that definitely would complete the whole “unintentionally slutty plumber” look he’s got going on, he doesn’t want to have to do another load of laundry today. “I’m sorry,” Martin says once he’s stopped coughing like a consumptive patient, “what?” Martin can't say that either of them have given much thought to tying the knot.
