Fics like there’s nothing i'd like better than to fall

Everybody had always told Gabrielle that she was being unrealistic in holding out for her soulmate. After all, most people didn’t even have a soulmark! And those few born with one rarely met their mate. The best, the only, thing to do was to just accept what—and who—was available. Namely, Perdicus. And if Gabrielle felt nothing for him? Well, as long as they got along enough to have a family, those details didn’t matter. So there was a moment of triumphant vindication when Gabrielle met somebody with a matching soulmark, solely because it meant everybody had been wrong and she’d been completely right in not wanting to marry Perdicus. Then Gabrielle had to process exactly who this mate was.
