Fics like Old Building Blocks, Fitted Anew

Reconciliation fic - cause I’m a sucker for ‘em. Takes place a few years before the film. Ice has cancer and isn’t able to keep as close of an eye on Maverick, who’s getting harassed on his latest deployment by a superior officer who hates Mav’s guts (for whatever reason). Rooster has ended up deployed on the same carrier and he overhears their superior verbally and physically abusing his godfather. Cue protective Rooster. (Hopefully, this scenario isn’t something that actually happens, but I needed an actual plot, so I ended up with some Navy corruption.)
