Fics like better than I expected

“I vowed that I would do anything if it might help you forget your heartbreak, did I not? It would be ungentlemanly of me to break that promise now.” Hildibrand leaned in closer as he spoke, close enough that the petals of his corsage brushed against Briardien’s tunic. Briardien watched one fall, spiraling, to the ground. “And so I ask you, Inspector: would this help?” Briardien licked his lips. He cleared his throat, the sound too loud in the stillness. “There’s only one way to find out, so what are you waiting for?” - Hildibrand takes it upon himself to cheer Briardien up after a certain betrayal.
