Fics like And now the soul in me cries

"It must have been the bandits," the kneeling man claimed, in vain hopes that this would make the failure someone else's responsibility. "Ah, yes. The bandits," Luo Qingeng said coldly, making even Fusheng shiver."A problem that is completely new and unheard of in our domain. A danger we had no way of foreseeing. Is that why there was no one to meet and escort the Han entourage? Because after months of fighting the plague of vagabonds we are somehow surprised by them once again?" The minister on the floor froze completely. Luo Fusheng wasn't sure he was even breathing. "I gave the order to assist and track the Han envoy from the moment he crossed our borders," Luo Qingeng continued, his voice deceptively emotionless. "Do I have to remind everyone what their duties are? Should I prepare a list of all the things my men, people I granted their positions for merits and wits, should guard against? Do I run a court full of children?" --- A longer version of the hansheng short I posted a while ago, now with plot UPDATE: link to LQG/JY prequel added to chapter 6
