Fics like The Wolf at the Door

Freshly regenerated after the horrors of the Time War, alone and broken, the Doctor lands in London to deal with some pesky Autons but finds much more than he could ever possibly have hoped for. Rose Tyler's job has just been blown up by a madman with a Cheshire cat grin. With no A-levels, no job, no future, and one bronze medal from way back in junior school, she follows an alien who promises her all of space and time. Burgeoning friendship, tentative romance, and a lot of fluff and hurt/comfort vibes ensue. Pay attention and you'll note some subtle changes to canon that will have longer-term effects...
