Fics like 1000 cuts

Barney knew the exact moment he’d fucked up. The crew needed a diversion to get into the isolated mansion undetected, and the rumours around their target, Miller, spoke to an element of ‘playing with his food’ that Barney fully intended to capitalise on. Deliberately getting caught to distract Miller’s whole operation should’ve made for a decent enough delay with minimal risk. Lee had complained about playing the bait, but he complained about everything, and it was just his usual annoyed complaining, not genuinely trying to fight Barney complaining. The whole thing was fucking moot now. It was the look in Miller’s icy eyes the second he walked into their holding cell that was the beginning of the end. And now Miller dug a gun barrel into Lee’s temple.
