Arthur laughs with the other knights as Merlin serves them drinks and rolls his eyes in a half-bored, half-amused expression. “I’m actually an Alpha,” says the latter in a crystal clear voice, and the table immediately goes silent as Arthur’s ears feel strangely muffled and he believes -he is sure- that he has misunderstood. “What?” continues Merlin as all the knights’ eyes are on him. “Since I don’t wield a sword and can think clearly before picking a fight with anyone who passes me, I had to be an Omega? I don’t know whether to be flattered or offended.” Merlin looks towards Arthur and gives him a wink. Arthur looks at the plate in front of him without actually seeing it and finds himself no longer hungry. Why does his life always have to be so damn complicated?
