Fics like The Carer

"Orna Winterworth had received her orders a month after Haymitch Abernathy was crowned Victor of the Second Quarter Quell – she was to make sure he took his medicine, kept his wound clean, and was in good shape for the Victory Tour. She had been the only one able to coax him onto the train when the day had come. After that, President Snow himself had decided he deserved Capitol funded ‘full time care’ due to his historic victory, even after Haymitch’s stomach had scarred over. When Orna had died of Black Fever two years ago, that job had passed to Sadie. At fourteen years old, she had become his carer." Pawn of the Capitol, Sadie Winterworth was ordered to go with Haymitch to the Capitol to continue his care throughout the 74th Hunger Games after his head-dive off stage at the Reaping. Now she must watch helplessly as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark fight for their lives, and ready herself to pick up the pieces of what returns home with them.
