Fics like we promised us forever (but forever came too soon)

On the rare occasions when Tim had allowed himself to think about death, he’d always thought that he would be the one to die first. He would be on his deathbed surrounded by Lucy and their children and maybe even some grandchildren or great grandchildren at that point. He’d imagined a long life full of laughter and love and at least forty years with the woman he adored, if not more. It isn’t supposed to be like this. It isn’t supposed to be her.
