Fics like it's not too late to celebrate

“Hi. I finished what I was doing,” she says, and she so badly wants to tell him what she’d been doing and why she’d been doing it, but this isn’t about that. What she’d done hadn’t been about the credit or the recognition (though she does still love a good trophy). Instead it had been about Tim and getting him out from behind that horrible desk and back to doing what he loves. “I just wanted to hear your voice.” Tim hums on the other end and Lucy smiles as she hears the rustle of his quilt as he turns over in his bed. (She’s become intimately familiar with the rustle of his quilt, and she wishes she were under it with him). “I’m glad you called,” he says, and Lucy has to press the heel of her hand over her chest to make it stop aching as he murmurs to her in his sleepy, raspy voice on the other end of the phone. “And, you know…” Lucy bites her lip to contain her glee as she hears the suggestive lilt in Tim’s voice. “What?” she asks, her tone teasing. “It’s not too late to… celebrate.”
