Fics like Not the Plan

The plan was for Wylan to take a few punches and “break” under Anika and Keeg’s threat. The plan was for Wylan to make his way to the auction on his own and watch as Van Eck made a fool of himself. The plan was not for Van Eck to march Wylan in, bruised and battered beyond belief. -------------- or: An alternate take on the auction scene, in which Van Eck didn't leave Wylan alone with Anika and Keeg, and instead brought him to the auction himself. Jesper won't leave until he figures out if Wylan is okay, and Van Eck makes his hatred for his son abundantly clear to the entire church.
