Fics like We'll Lie Down in Eiderdown

Forster scraped his original epilogue for Maurice, and I, by no means, am claiming to be a better writer by taking my own crack at it. This is all a labor of love towards a story that means so much to so many people. Forster said he wanted to write a story where two men could fall in love and end happily. I wanted to try and write an epilogue that I felt these characters (and through them, Forster himself) deserved through the lens of someone living today. Maurice and Alec are happily in love and living their lives when Kitty stumbled across them one late autumn day. This sets off a long chain of events where the two men end up coming out and rejoining their families. This doesn't come without great risk, but through it they learn that they are loved, they are wanted, and that maybe they aren't as alone as they originally thought they were.
