Fics like This Glittering Gold

The Dread Pirate Ji Chong sweeps an insulting bow with one arm while the tip of his sword never wavers from its position a mere inch away from Xie Yun’s gilled throat. “I have more than my fair share of bedfellows, but never will I succumb to the allures of the merman!” Xie Yun corrects him on his full title, “The Most Alluring Merman of the Seven Seas,” and adds further enticement using his golden tail to send out ripples of tantalising energy through the water. “The Only Merman of the Seven Seas.” --- ChongYun have a rocky start in this swashbuckling, treasure-seeking, eerily enchanting, Pirate and Merman AU, which is basically a fairytale about loving a monster where they can both be interpreted as the monster and the moral is that love is worth it.
