Fics like Light Yagami Doesn't Have A Fire Extinguisher In His Room (& Other Cautionary Tales)

An important note: The fact that Light knows how to create a small combustible in his desk drawer is impressive, but it doesn't mean he has much prior experience with those things. Certainly not enough to guarantee that if his safety measure were to activate, it wouldn’t, say, set his entire desk on fire before he had a chance to even try containing the blaze. Light panics hard when he realizes what’s happening, then harder still when he searches through his clever honor-student mind and comes up with absolutely nothing helpful for stopping a fire that he fucking started in his own goddamn desk drawer. Ryuk’s cackling laughter isn’t a very helpful soundtrack. Light whips around to tell him that, and— (the last piece of the Death Note crumbles to ash) —forgets.
