Laudna looks a little shy suddenly as she reaches into a pocket. “It’s a Ring of Thought Detection,” she says. “I think it—it mimics your powers.” They’ve talked about this, laying atop wrinkled sheets, lazy and glowing and spent. What a shame, Laudna had murmured into Imogen’s ear, that there wasn’t a way to have the magic flow the opposite direction, so that she could know what Imogen wanted, pull inspiration from her mind. Imogen had shivered, then taken Laudna’s hand and dragged it down between her legs to show her what that thought did to her. Does to her. She’s definitely turned on. Can feel the excitement jumping in her. But— But Laudna thinks Imogen is perfect. Thinks she’s amazing. Thinks she’s wonderful. The problem is, she’s really not.
