Fics like like feeling dusk settle

Joe brushes their noses together before saying, “I wouldn’t mind, you know.” “Mind what?” Nicky’s whole body feels heavy. Something about being around Joe makes Nicky’s mind feel so quiet, and makes his body feel safe. “If you wanted to try drinking from me.” Nicky’s eyes snap to Joe’s. “I-I-don’t—” he starts, then gives up. He feels caught out, but the gentle curve of Joe’s mouth, and the warmth in Joe’s eyes makes him feel like that’s not Joe’s intention. Joe kisses him, slow and comforting. “I know you said you don’t like to, but you’re allowed to change your mind about it. And if you ever do, just know that I’m open.” The kiss brings Nicky back to that quiet, safe place, enough that he clocks the sparkle in Joe’s eyes. Nicky narrows his eyes. “I think you’re more than open to it.” Or: Nicky and Joe try something new.
