Fics like I SEE GREEN

The earth opened up around him and swallowed him whole, taking away his consciousness and wrapping around him like a warmed blanket. He fell and finally found peace, finally felt hope for the first time in sixty years. As the last of Yavanna's warm caress fell away, Bilbo could just hear the whisper in the air. "You will be our salvation, Bilbo Baggins." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This time, he would be prepared. This time, he would not be the weak line, the liability. This time, the line of Durin would not fall but thrive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When the day of Gandalf’s arrival finally comes, Bilbo allows himself to sit down on his bench, puffing on his pipe. He closes his eyes, not even looking up when Gandalf’s shadow falls upon him, relishing the distinct feeling of déjà vu. He’s finally doing it, finally changing it. He cannot wait.
