He’s been getting better since they reunited last Halloween; he’s honored his promise to be more open with Adam, and they’ve been slowly rebuilding and getting back to the place they were a few years ago. And Adam has been grateful for it. For Caleb’s love, for their togetherness, but also for the opportunity to know Caleb the way Caleb effortlessly, supernaturally knows him. But some nights are still hard. Some nights, Caleb retreats back into himself, into the turtle shell he burrowed himself under back in the days after his internship at the A.M. Because he doesn’t want to worry Adam; because he doesn’t want to be the cause of new drama or new problems for their relationship. Caleb wants things normal; he doesn’t want his power to change anything. To affect the unyielding love he and Adam have for each other. And Adam’s willing to not let it – providing that Caleb is honest whenever he’s having problems. Their normal has always been different than everyone else’s, anyway.
