Fics like The Alternative Ending

The handler stared at his screen, unmoving. His mouth hung agape and his hand was cupped around his earpiece. God. He couldn't believe it. Belatedly, he realized he should be feeling some sort of pride. Look at what the agent has accomplished - his agent, Agent Phoenix - they’ve done it again! They have saved the world once more from the evils of Zoraxis, and yet. And yet. His heart sank long ago, and it still rested at the bottom of his stomach. He couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t, he couldn’t, he refused to. The handler wasn’t going to believe his agent was dead until he saw them with his own eyes. (alternatively, the agent isn't MIA at the end of the second game.)
