Fics like only fools rush in

Wade sinks, just slightly, before he knows what he’s doing, and takes Matt’s jaw in his free hand. Jack is saying something - telling him not to worry, Matt was already blind - but Wade ignores him. He pats Matt’s cheek with the same hand holding the knife - once, twice - and waits for a reaction. Matt blinks. Once, twice. Wade exhales, hard. “That’s it, babe,” he murmurs. __ Or: Wade fails to do his background research on a pricey new gig. This ends up being a good thing.
