Fics like Before You Cross the Street, Take My Hand

“Before you cross the street/ Take my hand/ Life is what happens to you/ When you’re busy making other plans.” - Beautiful Boy, John Lennon ----- Roy makes eye contact, and as evenly as he can muster responds, “you don’t want me to go because you’d be jealous of the freedom.” For a moment Ollie freezes- and Roy can tell that victory is near. That he’s struck to the heart of Ollie’s defenses and his empathy has allowed him a window into Ollie’s subconscious. And then Ollie begins to fidget, little twitchy movements that aren’t meant to be seen, like he’s trying to be still but is too uncomfortable to rest. Roy thinks he’s won. “I don’t want you to go because I’d miss my best friend.” Ollie whispers finally.
